You know just how important the early years are for a child’s growth and development. As someone who has dedicated your life to children, you play an essential role in helping Colorado’s children get off to a strong, healthy start. The Guidelines provide practical tips and information that anyone can use to help children grow intellectually and emotionally. The Guidelines provide a statewide roadmap but now it’s up to all of us to support families and other caregivers, organizations and initiatives as they put the Guidelines to work.

Note: It is important to arrange for regular health and developmental exams with a health care provider. These are usually part of a well-child visit and can include vision, hearing and oral health screenings.

The Guidelines describe how a typical child develops but it is important to understand that each child learns and develops at his or her own individual pace. Since each child is different, caregivers should talk with a health care provider or other trusted professional about any questions or concerns.
